Brunch in Brighton

Brunch is the most social meal, it sets the tone for the rest of your day and has magical restorative powers if you’re suffering from the night before.

Avoid hangry mornings with our brunch by location guide

If you're staying in east Brighton, in the Kemptown, Hanover or Marina area then you’ve got some great choices. Head to the iconic Redroaster at the bottom of St James’s Street for bottomless brunch served seven days a week (booking required). It’s a stylish modern cafe. Forget the greasy spoon and think breakfast burritos, lobster club sandwiches, a Full English made with Sussex produce and their own seriously good coffee roasted just up the road. Redroaster was once listed in The New York Times as one of the 100 places to visit in Europe.

In central Brighton, you’ll find Trading Post Cafes in both the North Laine and the Lanes. They roast their own coffee locally in Lewes and serve a top selection of classic brunches. The two story cafe in the Lanes has plenty of seating on the second floor which works well for large parties. On the seafront you’ll find The New Club is a great brunch destination. Its glass front gives you a direct view of the grand old lady, the West Pier, as she slowly retires into the sea. Inside, you’ve got gritty New York style meeting West Coast easy vibes.

Over in Hove, your brunch destinations are the deliciously camp and super spacious Oeuf Cafe, think brunch in a Wes Anderson movie. This is where the genius Frumpet was born, yep, it’s a French toast crumpet, you’ll leave Brighton changed forever after sampling this delight. Baked AM:PM on Church Road has plenty of space with sheltered outdoor seating in the winter and a classic brunch menu made fresh with local ingredients.

Every year the people of Brighton and Hove vote for their favourite venues in the Brighton Restaurant Awards (BRAVOs) in 16 categories. One of the most fiercely fought over is best brunch. For years two independent cafes have been battling over retaining this title, and honestly, it could easily be a draw. Starfish and Coffee in Hanover and Moksha Cafe in the North Laine both deserve their award winning brunch status.

Dog Friendly Brighton

One of the great things about self accommodation is being able to bring your four legged friends with you. But where to go when all your crew needs feeding? After the puppy boom of 2020-21 we realised this was a question that was hard to find an answer for. So, as a team of dog lovers, who also love great food, we created our dog-friendly guide with dogs in mind. It’s organised by walk locations, be that seafront, one of our great local parks or a trek out into the countryside, picking out locations that are as good for them as they are for you.
